NICEIC Assessment at Camphill MK

SJD’s annual National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) assessment has just taken place and included a visit to Camphill MK where SJD has nearly completed the full electrical installation for a block of seven accessible new homes for adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Qualified supervisors Tash and Jez accompanied the assessor on an inspection of installations at the site which included the electrical infrastructure for the new building which will use air source heating.  Energy efficient lighting with passive infrared controls will reduce energy consumption and solar panels, installed by the project’s roofing contractor, are expected to produce around 13kW of energy per building.

SJD first provided electrical services to Camphill MK in 2016 and the team was delighted to show the NICEIC assessor around the project where they explained the installation, performed electrical tests and compared the results with their installation certificates.

Passing the assessment proves SJD’s technical and organisational competence and demonstrates that the company has the correct qualifications, training, insurance and certifications to deliver work safely and to the highest standards.

SJD’s managing director, Ruth Devine, MBE explains: “The assessment is very detailed and includes reviewing our documentation such as our certification and building regulation notifications to check they are present and sufficient and that we have an appropriate complaints procedure.

“Our certification gives our customers confidence in the quality of the electrical work we carry out and shows that we keep up- to-date with best practice in our industry.

“Systems and processes, such as testing equipment, are checked for accurate calibration and the assessment shows that we are doing all the right things.

“We are proud to show the rewarding work we are doing here at Camphill MK, and the close relationship we’ve forged.”

SJD has been working with contractor Watson & Cox to provide the new homes, and further blocks are due to be constructed on the site in the future.
