Two awards for Tara
Site supervisor Tara Warner has received not one, but two safety awards while working at Bedford Academy for Ashe Construction.
SJD is helping Ashe to build a new £12m teaching block at the school which is due for completion in August. Tara is leading the team which is providing the full electrical installation for the two-storey building. When complete the school will have 16 new state-of-the-art classrooms, changing rooms, a new dining area and community café. The building will be highly efficient and net zero carbon in operation.
Ashe runs awards schemes to recognise and acknowledge good practice amongst subcontractors. Tara’s diligence has been highlighted by project manager, Danny Roberts, who presented her the Monthly Safety Award for continuing commitment to safe working practices back in December, and in May Tara was again acknowledge with a Monthly Contractors’ Award for effectively reporting safety concerns.
Danny Roberts said: “Tara has always been vigilant in her supervisory responsibilities which is indicated by the direction she gives to her team and their performance. She ensures that safety requirements are being actioned by all in her team.
“It is vitally important that black hats/supervisors lead by example, and this is best achieved by fully absorbing the project ethos, focussing on safety and quality, and ensuring this is extended to their operatives and specialist contractors.
“Tara has a very affable manner. She faces problems with a positive attitude and can be instrumental in finding a suitable solution without concerns. She clearly has the respect and commitment of her team.”
Well done, Tara, you are a credit to SJD.
